How to Find a Bengal, Siamese, Persian or Maine Coon to Adopt in the UAE

Couple adopting a puppy and a cat – adopt, don’t shop

Pedigree cats end up in rescue more often than people think. Owners relocate, circumstances change, or a breed turns out to be more demanding than expected. If you love a particular breed, adoption can be a rewarding alternative to buying from a breeder.

Here’s how to find a Bengal, Siamese, Persian or Maine Coon to adopt in the UAE, and what each breed needs from its new family.

Where to Look

  • Kittys Zone adoption: tell us the breed you’re hoping for on our adoption enquiry form, and we’ll let you know if a suitable cat comes into our network.
  • UAE cat rescues: groups such as Feline Friends and the Sharjah Cat and Dog Shelter (SCADS) sometimes rehome pedigree and mixed-breed cats.
  • Breed communities: breed-specific owner groups often share rehoming requests.
  • Vets and groomers: they often hear first when an owner needs to rehome a cat.

Be patient. Pedigree cats in rescue are usually adopted quickly, so ask to be added to waiting lists.

Avoid Rehoming Scams

  • Never pay a deposit or “shipping fee” for a cat you haven’t met.
  • Ask for vaccination records, a microchip number and vet history.
  • Be wary of very cheap “pedigree” kittens with no paperwork.
  • Meet the cat in person, or by live video through a known rescue.

What to Know About Each Breed

Bengal

Athletic, curious and very energetic, with a striking spotted or marbled coat. Bengals need daily play, climbing space and mental stimulation, and they can be vocal. Best for active owners with time to play.

Siamese

Slim, elegant and extremely social, Siamese cats bond closely with their people and are famous for their chatty voices. They dislike being alone for long periods, so they suit homes where someone is around or there’s another friendly cat.

Persian

Calm and gentle, Persians love quiet homes, but their long coat needs daily brushing and regular professional grooming to prevent mats. Their flat faces can also bring breathing and eye issues, so regular vet checks matter. Our guide to cat grooming styles explains coat care options.

Maine Coon

Large, friendly “gentle giants” who get along well with families and other pets. They need more space, more food and regular brushing, and benefit from heart health checks with your vet.

Questions to Ask Before Adopting

  • How old is the cat, and what is its health history?
  • Is the cat neutered, vaccinated and microchipped?
  • Why is it being rehomed?
  • How does it behave with children, dogs or other cats?
  • What food and grooming routine is it used to?

Settling Your New Cat In

Start with a quiet room, keep their usual food and introduce new people and pets slowly. Book a gentle first groom once your cat has settled. Our cat groomers in Dubai and Ajman are used to nervous rescue cats.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I adopt a pedigree cat in the UAE?

Yes. Pedigree cats regularly need new homes. Join rescue waiting lists and let local rescues and pet care businesses know which breed you’re looking for.

Are rescue pedigree cats healthy?

Many are perfectly healthy, but ask for vet records and arrange a vet check soon after adoption, especially for breeds with known health risks.

How much does it cost to adopt a pedigree cat?

Rescue adoption fees are usually much lower than breeder prices, often in the AED 300 – 800 range for cats. See cat prices in Dubai to compare.
